An Interview with Rowan Miller.
(Courtesy of thebikerplace.com)The Biker Place: What first got you interested in motorcycle racing and who inspired you to get involved?
Rowan Miller: Dad, and watching the racing on TV.
TBP: What advice would you give to any youngsters (or their parents) if they were interested in getting involved in motorcycle racing?
RM: You might not be good when you start but you’ll get better and better. You need MONEY!
TBP: How much time do you put into training/practicing to be a competitive racer?
RM: We go practicing (and racing) as often as we can and on Tuesday 8th of July we are going to Rockingham to go training with the instructors up there, to improve my riding.
TBP: To date, what has been your most memorable moment/achievement in racing?
RM: I suppose one would be the most terrible weather you could possibly imagine at West Meon MX track. it was only about my 3rd meeting ever and I was on my LEM 50.All the 50’s were struggling and it was a race just to see who could finish. And I did!
TBP: And, what has been your worst/most disappointing moment in racing?
RM: Breaking my arm on my old 4.2 minimoto which made me miss out on 2 GP70 meets.
TBP: Since you began racing have you had any battles or rivalries with any other particular riders?
RM: Tons, a lot with my mate Charlie Cox in MX and a few with Jason Douglas recently.
TBP: What competitions are you competing in this year and what bike(s)?
RM: On my Metrakit GP80XL I am competing in the North Gloucester Formula 125 championship. I’m also in the MRO.
TBP: What were your expectations going into this season, and at this stage how have you done compared to those expectations?
RM: I didn’t really have any but to learn the tracks and bike. But I’ve turned out leading the North Gloster Formula 125 championship by 22 points!
TBP: What would be your ideal career path in motorcycle racing from where you are now?
RM: Be picked up by a MotoGP 125 team. Win that. Move up to 250. Win that. Move up to moto gp. Win that tons of times and Bob’s your uncle.
TBP: Any people in particular you would like to thank or mention for getting to where you are so far?
RM: DAD! Of course. KBC helmets, The Tuning Works and Fab-Racing.
